Close uses a credit-based system to power advanced AI features. Credits are pooled at the account level, reset monthly, and do not roll over.
Some AI features are always free — they never consume credits and keep working even if your balance hits zero.
As a thank-you for your early participation, all Chloe beta customers receive 100,000 free AI credits. Credits will be applied to your account at your first billing cycle on or after June 3, 2026 — no action needed.*
A couple of things to know about what changes on June 3:
- Telephony charges now apply to Voice Agent calls. During the beta, these were waived. Starting June 3, Voice Agent calls are billed at standard telephony rates (the same rates that apply to calls placed by your human reps). This is separate from AI credits.
- AI credits cover AI processing costs (Voice Agent, AI Enrich, Auto-fill). Your free 100k credits cover these costs through July 3.
Once your free credits are used or the billing cycle ends, you'll need an AI Credit Subscription Plan to continue using credit-based features. See Adding More Credits below.
What Uses Credits
Free — No Credits Required
These features are available on all plans and never consume credits:
- Conversation Summaries — Automatic summaries after calls
- Notetaker — Call transcripts
- Email Rewrite Assist — AI-assisted email editing

Important: All Voice Agent calls will be charged telephony usage and AI credit charges. Think of it like a human rep making calls — the same telephony rates apply. See Calling and SMS usage for telephony rates.
Note: Call Assistant and standard telephony (calls and SMS) are billed separately and do not use AI credits.
Included Credits by Plan
Every Close plan includes a monthly credit allocation based on the number of users on your account, up to a cap of 10 users. Additional users beyond 10 don't add more included credits.

Trial accounts receive a fixed 1,000 credits (not per-user). Trial credits do not roll over when you upgrade to a paid plan.
Adding More Credits: AI Credit Subscription Plans
If your included credits aren't enough, you can purchase an AI Credit Subscription Plan for a predictable monthly credit allocation. Credits from a subscription plan reset monthly and do not roll over.
Larger plans offer a better per-credit rate.

Upgrades
You can upgrade your AI Credit Subscription Plan at any time. When you upgrade:
- You are charged the full price of the new plan (no proration)
- You receive the full credit allocation for the new plan immediately
- Your billing cycle alignment stays the same
- Your credits do not roll over into the next billing cycle
Downgrades
Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Your current credit allocation continues until then.
Managing and Monitoring Credits
Controlling Credit Usage
You can turn individual credit-based features on or off at any time from your AI settings. This lets you manage which features draw from your credit balance.
Viewing Your Usage
Admins can view credit usage from Settings > AI Credits, including:
- Credits remaining and a breakdown of usage by feature
- Low-credit warning banners in-app
- A CSV export of usage data for detailed reporting
Low-Credit Notifications

Trial Credits
Trial accounts start with 1,000 credits and have access to all credit-based AI features. Trial credits do not roll over when you upgrade to a paid plan.
Free features (Summaries, Notetaker, Email Rewrite) continue working even after trial credits are depleted.

Do credits roll over month to month?

I was a beta customer — what happens to my free credits after July 3?
After July 3, any unused beta credits expire and AI usage is billed against your plan's included credits or an AI Credit Subscription Plan you've purchased.
* Credits are non-transferable and must be used within the billing cycle in which they are applied. Unused credits expire at the end of that billing cycle and will not roll over.
