Plans and Billing

Billing Schedule, Plan, and Users

Your Close account is billed according to these three aspects of your subscription:

  1. Your Billing Schedule - You can pay for Close on a monthly or annual basis.

Your plan page will indicate whether your organization is set to Monthly payments or annual billing.

  1. Your Team’s Plan - You can review or change your team’s Plan on the Plan page within your Organization settings. See Close’s Plans & Pricing.
  2. Number of Users - You can invite, remove, or edit a User on the Team Management page within your Organization settings.

If you’re an agency working across multiple client organizations, ask about Close’s Partner Program.

Telephony Usage

Calling and SMS usage is calculated and charged separately.

Your CRM subscription fee is separate from your Usage Credits balance: Usage Credits are a prepaid balance used for calling and SMS and are managed/charged independently of your Close plan subscription.

A card must be kept on file to pay for calling/SMS usage charges and Usage Credit recharges.

Close Plans & Pricing

You can review the features offered in each plan on our Pricing Page.

Current list rates (per seat) are approximately: Essentials $49/month (monthly) or $35/month (annual), Growth $109/month (monthly) or $99/month (annual), and Scale $149/month (monthly) or $139/month (annual). Calling/SMS and phone numbers are usage-based and billed separately.

Qualified discounts

We offer discounts for customers that have 10+ seats and would like to commit to Close for 12+ months.

To see what discount your team qualifies for, please contact our Success team.

Affiliate program

Affiliates receive a commission equal to 30% of a referred customer’s subscription revenue for the first 12 months. Commissions are paid out monthly as the customer is billed (not as a single annual payment).

Adjust payment method, view past invoices

Under Settings > Payment you add/change your Payment Method, adjust your invoice details (contact email, address, VAT information, etc.), and see your past invoice history.

To update your email address, business name, billing address, or VAT/tax ID, click Update next to your payment method under Settings > Billing > Payment . This opens Stripe checkout, where you can enter your information in the relevant fields.

Payment methods can vary by billing frequency:

  • For monthly subscriptions (and monthly usage recharges), Close accepts card payments only.
  • For annual subscriptions paid via invoice, Close supports card, ACH Direct Debit, or ACH Credit Transfer (bank transfer). PayPal and SEPA Direct Debit are not supported for annual invoice payments.

Calling/SMS usage charges are billed separately from the CRM subscription, and require a card on file for usage charges regardless of how your subscription is billed.

If you update your Payment Method, we will use that to charge the next invoice. We don’t support changes in payment methods on already issued and paid invoices.

If updating your card doesn’t complete an outstanding/unpaid charge, you can also pay via the Stripe-hosted payment link included in the invoice PDF. To find it, go to Settings > Billing > Invoice History, open the unpaid invoice, and use the payment link.

Some payments require 3D Secure confirmation; if the authentication step isn’t completed, the payment can fail even if the card details were updated. Using the Stripe-hosted payment link from the invoice PDF will trigger the 3D Secure flow when required by the card issuer.

Changing your plan

You can upgrade or downgrade your Close subscription at any time. Plan upgrades will take place immediately and a pro-rated charge will be made to reflect that. Plan downgrades are scheduled for the ending of your current billing period.

To downgrade to a Plan that has usage limits, you must first make sure your usage of those features is below the new Plan’s limits.

Overdue payments

If your credit card cannot be charged, a notification email will be sent to all Admin users of the organization, and an in-app banner notification will notify you that your payment is overdue.

Yellow in-app banner saying your payment is overdue with an Update your card link.

This banner is initially visible only to organization Admins by default. However, if there are less than 3 days remaining until the cancellation date, it will become visible to all users within your organization.

The most common reasons for overdue payments are insufficient funds or an unspecified issue that requires contacting your bank for further information. If your account has sufficient funds and your card is still being declined, please reach out to support@close.com and our Support Team will take a look.

Go to Settings > Billing > Payment to see which invoices have a failed payment.

If you need to retry payment (including completing a required 3D Secure step), you can also open the invoice PDF from Settings > Billing > Invoice History and use the Stripe-hosted payment link.

Multi-Organizational Billing

Close offers a solution to seamlessly handle multiple organizations with the ability to link and manage multiple organizations under one billing account - your primary organization.

To create a secondary organization, an Admin must head to Settings > Billing > Plan and select Add Organization in the Subscription section.

The Growth and Scale Plan come with one additional organization already included in the package - one primary (billing) organization, and another that can be used to support your business. Examples of uses would be a sandbox/testing environment, or to segregate regional offices, for example.

Need more than one additional organization?

All plans can create more organizations tied to your primary organization at $50 per organization, per month.

Billing Management

The organization that was created first will default to being the primary billing organization after a new organization is created. If you want to change your billing organization, please reach out to our Support Team.

When you create additional organizations, they will always be on the same plan as the primary organization. There isn’t an option to have multiple plan types under the same billing umbrella. For example, you cannot have one organization on Scale and another organization on Essentials. Linked organizations must be on the same plan and billing schedule.

If there is some user overlap and a user belongs to the primary and secondary organizations, you will only be charged once for that user, regardless of how many organizations they are in.

A single invoice will be sent for all organizations at the end of the billing period, and will be sent to the billing email address on file found on the primary organization under Settings > Billing. Telephony usage across all linked organizations is consolidated in these invoices, and usage settings are controlled within the primary organization.

Linked organizations must use the same billing method. You cannot pay for each organization via a different payment method.

Add-ons across linked organizations

Add-ons are enabled on the billing account rather than on individual organizations, so they apply to every linked organization at once and their monthly fee is charged only once. Call Assistant works this way: switching it on anywhere switches it on everywhere, the $50/month fee is billed a single time no matter how many organizations you have, and the per-minute transcription charges from all of them draw on the shared usage credit balance.

You can enable or disable Call Assistant from Settings > Plan at any time. This toggle takes effect immediately and is independent of whether your main Close subscription is billed monthly or annually.

Cancellation Processes

  • Primary Organization: Cancellation leads to the cancellation of all linked secondary orgs. The secondary organization will reflect the same cancellation date as the primary.
  • Secondary Organizations: Can be independently canceled from the Plan page without restrictions. This will not impact the primary organization.
