Reach your contacts on WhatsApp directly within Close, without switching apps. Using an Integration Link, your team can get in touch with your leads through WhatsApp with just one click.

Under Settings > Integration Links, make sure the WhatsApp option is enabled under Standard Links:

Once enabled, contacts with a phone number registered with WhatsApp can be reached directly from the lead page by clicking on the WhatsApp icon:

If a WhatsApp account cannot be found with that phone number, you’ll see a message notifying you that contact is not associated with a WhatsApp number.

Filtering

You can filter Leads and Contacts by WhatsApp messages to create Smart Views to track these events in your Leads. You can find WhatsApp event filters under Communication > Find the first/last communication where… > Type.

TimelinesAI Integration for WhatsApp

Close now supports a direct integration with TimelinesAI, enabling seamless syncing of WhatsApp messages with your Close CRM leads. It works with WhatsApp Business App and Personal accounts.

This integration offers:

  • Automatic Lead Creation: When a new WhatsApp chat appears, TimelinesAI can auto-create a new lead in Close if no matching contact exists.

  • Message Sync: WhatsApp messages are logged as “WhatsApp” activities in the Close activity feed, including text, locations, and attachments (up to 25 MB).

  • Phone Number Matching: Messages are matched to leads using the WhatsApp contact’s phone number in international format. If a match is found, messages sync to the existing lead; if not, a new lead can be created (if auto-create is enabled).

  • Lead Ownership Logic: Automatically assigns the lead owner based on chat responsibility, WhatsApp account ownership, or defaults to the integration owner.

Log WhatsApp Messages in Close via Zapier

You can use Zapier to log WhatsApp messages in Close or trigger actions based on Close events. Some messaging tools like Superchat integrate with both Close and WhatsApp directly or through Zapier.

That way, you can keep track of all logs of your communications with your Leads that happen outside of Close in the Lead Activity feed.

Note: Some third-party integrations may not yet support Close’s WhatsApp message activity type, but a custom setup may allow it.

Create WhatsApp activities in Close via the API

For more technical teams, Close’s API allows you to create WhatsApp message activities seamlessly. These messages appear just like SMS messages in the activity feed and can trigger Inbox notifications.
